The #14000Reasons HPV Vaccination Campaign

We are starting 2022 with a spotlight on our #14000Reasons HPV Vaccination advocacy campaign. Every day in Nigeria, about 22 women die from cervical cancer. (GLOBOCON 2020). HPV (humanpapilloma virus) is responsible for most cases of cervical cancer. The good news is there is a vaccine that protects against this called the HPV vaccine. CancerAware is calling on the Government of Nigeria to as a matter of urgency introduce the HPV vaccine into the routine immunisation programme in the country so eligible girls can access it. Several other African countries have introduced the HPV vaccine into their immunisation programmes. Nigeria cannot be the exception seeing that we have a high burden of cervical cancer.⠀ Our online petition on Change.org is on track to reach 50,000 signatures making it one of the most signed petitions on the platform.
